【摘要】:Flatwisecompressivestrengthandmodulusarefundamentalmechanicalpropertiesofsandwichcoresthatareusedindesigningsandwichpanels.Deformationdatacanbeobtained,andfromacompleteforceversusdeformationcurve,itispossibletocomputethecompressivestressatanyappliedforce(suchascompressivestressatproportionallimitforceorcompressivestrengthatthemaximumforce)andtocomputetheeffectivemodulusofthecore.Thistestmethodprovidesastandardmethodofobtainingtheflatwisecompressivestrengthandmodulusforsandwichcorestructuraldesignproperties,materialspecifications,researchanddevelopmentapplications,andqualityassurance.Inordertopreventlocalcrushingattheedgesofsomehoneycombcores,itisoftendesirabletostabilizetheedgeswithasuitablematerial,suchasathinlayerofresinorthinfacings.Flatwisecompressivestrengthdatamaybegeneratedusingeitherstabilizedspecimens(reportedasstabilizedcompressionstrength)ornon-stabilizedspecimens(reportedasbarecompressionstrength).Itiscustomaryaerospaceindustrypracticetodeterminecompressionmodulusonlywhenusingstabilizedspecimens.Factorsthatinfluencetheflatwisecompressivestrengthandshallthereforebereportedincludethefollowing:corematerial,methodsofmaterialfabrication,coregeometry(cellsize),coredensity,specimengeometry,specimenpreparation,specimenconditioning,environmentoftesting,specimenalignment,loadingprocedure,andspeedoftesting.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthecompressivestrengthandmodulusofsandwichcores.Thesepropertiesareusuallydeterminedfordesignpurposesinadirectionnormaltotheplaneoffacingsasthecorewouldbeplacedinastructuralsandwichconstruction.Thetestprocedurespertaintocompressioninthisdirectioninparticular,butalsocanbeappliedwithpossibleminorvariationstodeterminingcompressivepropertiesinotherdirections.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgivenmaybeapproximate.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
